Layton Campbell, owner and principal desginer of J Layton Interiors, founded the firm in 2004. Having lived in New York City for a decade and studying at Parsons School of Design, he found his Charlotte roots were calling him back home.
While living in New York City, Layton had the opportunity to travel extensively across the globe including Europe, Asia, India, Africa, Russia, and the Middle East, and a six-month period in Australia. These experiences have shaped Layton’s design aesthetic and approach to each client and project. His design philosophy is when there is harmony between environment, architecture, and client, the outcome is cohesive and individual. This is reflected in projects spanning from Charlotte to Nantucket, Texas, Atlanta, Florida, Kiawah Island, and New York City.
Layton also places the importance of fine art in all of his projects, curating pieces from galleries across the land. Many of these examples are featured in prestigious publications such as Interior Design, Architectural Digest, Luxe, and Wall Street Journal.
Layton loves spending time with Les and pups, Bigsby and Giorgi, at their vacation home in the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains.
